Like a broken bottle of glass,

I lay strewn across the shore,

My jagged edges catching rocks,

I reflect the approaching storm.

But the sea reaches for me again

And reminds me of all she pledges,

To keep me humble and in awe of all,

She softens my jagged edges.

In the earth, I am a fallen branch,

When I have lost my way,

I sink into her warmth and dust,

But the rain then makes me clay.

When I am hardened and cannot see,

The sun will always shine,

He reminds me that all is well,

And melts this cold heart of mine.
